Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your personal data when you use this website, contact us or book a tour. We keep it short and specific: everything listed here is something this website actually does.
Last updated: 12 September 2026
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is:
- RETRO TUK SPLIT, obrt za prijevoz, vl. Ante Elez
- Novakova 63, 21000 Split, Croatia
- OIB: 93515724803
- Email: contact@retrotuksplit.com
- Phone: +385 95 7695 301
For anything about your personal data, email contact@retrotuksplit.com — it reaches us directly.
2. What we collect
When you contact us or request a booking, through the form, by email, by phone or on WhatsApp:
- your name
- your email address
- your phone number, if you give it
- the tour, date, time and number of passengers
- anything you write in your message — special requests, the occasion, custom-tour choices
When you simply visit the website, our technical providers process:
- your IP address
- browser and device type
- which pages you requested, and when
- standard server and security logs
We do not ask for, and do not want, more than this. We never collect your card number on this website.
3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
We use your data to:
- reply to your message and answer questions
- prepare, confirm and run your tour
- handle changes, cancellations and refunds
- deal with complaints
- keep the accounting records the law requires
- keep the website working, secure and free of abuse
The legal bases under Article 6 GDPR are: performance of a contract (or steps before it) for everything to do with your booking; legal obligation for accounting, tax and consumer-protection records; and legitimate interests for website security, fraud prevention and defending legal claims. Where consent is required, we ask for it.
4. Booking — Bokun
The booking calendar on our tour pages is provided by Bokun (a Tripadvisor company), and is loaded from Bokun's servers when you open a tour page.
If you book through it, Bokun processes the details needed for the reservation — your name, email, phone, the tour, date, number of participants and any notes. Bokun also handles any online payment through its own payment providers.
The Bokun widget uses cookies or similar local storage where it needs them to run the booking and keep it secure.
5. Email — Resend
When you submit a form on this website, the message is delivered to our inbox by Resend, an email delivery service. Resend processes your name, email address and the content of your message in order to deliver it, and may process it outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards described in section 8.
6. Hosting and visitor statistics
This website is hosted by Vercel, which processes the technical data in section 2 to serve and protect the site.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It is privacy-friendly by design: it sets no cookies, does not store your IP address, does not identify you, and does not follow you to other websites. We use it only as an aggregate count of how the site is doing — never to build a profile, and never for advertising.
We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel or any other advertising or profiling tracker on this website.
7. Maps
Our tour pages show two kinds of map, and both load from a third party:
- a Google Maps embed showing the meeting point — opening the page contacts Google, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies
- a route map whose map tiles come from CARTO and OpenStreetMap, which likewise receive your IP address
We use these only to show you where the tour starts and where it goes. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do with that data.
8. Who else sees your data
We never sell your personal data, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only with the providers needed to run the business:
- Bokun — bookings and online payments
- Resend — email delivery
- Vercel — hosting and visitor statistics
- Google and CARTO / OpenStreetMap — maps, as described above
- our accountant, for the records the law requires us to keep
- public authorities, where we are legally required to provide information
Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the EEA, it is covered by an adequacy decision or by Standard Contractual Clauses, which is the safeguard the GDPR requires.
9. WhatsApp, Instagram and phone
If you choose to message us on WhatsApp or Instagram, that conversation also goes through that company's own service and privacy policy. We keep the conversation while it is relevant to your booking. If you would rather not use them, email or phone us instead.
11. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept only as long as they are useful, then deleted. Booking and payment records are kept for as long as Croatian tax and accounting law requires. Complaint records are kept for the period required by consumer-protection law, and anything relevant to a legal claim is kept until the claim is resolved.
12. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your data
- restrict or object to how we use it
- send your data to you or another provider in a portable format
- withdraw consent, where we relied on consent
Email contact@retrotuksplit.com and we will respond within one month. We may need to check who you are first.
13. Complaining to the regulator
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Croatian data-protection authority, AZOP (Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka), at azop.hr or azop@azop.hr.
14. Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection, and we use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No system on the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, so we keep only what we need.
15. Children
Our tours are family-friendly, but this website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Where a child joins a tour, the booking is made by a parent, guardian or accompanying adult.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change the services or providers we use, we will update this page and the date at the top.
